EATING DISORDER MENTAL HEALTH NHS
The Specialty Doctor in Community Adult Mental Health role at Easington, part of Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, involves providing secondary mental health services to the working-age adult population of Co Durham. The position entails conducting new patient assessments, follow-up clinics, and home visits, alongside participating in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and offering clinical leadership within a restructured community mental health team. The post holder will collaborate closely with various professionals, including the Team Manager, Psychologists, Advanced Practitioners, and a Consultant Psychiatrist, while managing a clinical workload that allows for flexibility in travel and assessments. There is no inpatient commitment, but coordination with inpatient colleagues is essential for managing patients during their treatment journey.

Additionally, the role represents a shift from the formerly specialized Affective Disorders team to a generic Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) model, aligning with Primary Care Networks (PCN) to address a wide range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, schizophrenia, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and Autism. The post holder is expected to provide support and expertise to enhance team capabilities and patient care, adhering to protocols that may evolve as the job description is awaiting final approval from The Royal College.
