We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking team member to join our portering teams at Dewsbury Hospital. As front of house in general porter you will support the safe transfer of patients around the hospital in a timely and safe manner. You will also assist with the collection of specimens and equipment.
This is a full time position, 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days over 7 with varying shifts between the hours of 06.00am to 06.00am.

The post holder will work as part of the Operational Portering Team to provide patient movement and patient facing services and to assist in the movement of both clinical and household waste for the Trust.
Under the direction of the supervisor, the post holder will deliver an efficient, effective and quality front of house portering service that is supportive towards departments and other buildings. The post holder will be courteous and caring towards patients and all service users.

- The conveyance or movement of patients by wheelchair, trolley or bed.
- Movement of deceased patients to the mortuary.
- Changing of medical gas cylinders as required.
- Escorting of patients and visitors.
- Collection and disposal of refuse, including clinical waste generated by the retained estate.
- To rotate through all portering duties and departments as required to meet Service delivery requirements.
- Respond to requests within minimum time, enabling the Department to meet its Service Level Agreements with other Trust departments.
- Respond to crash and fire calls and hold the bleep as requested by Supervisors or team leaders.
- An experienced post holder may, on occasion be requested to have a supernumerary member of staff working alongside them to assist in their induction to the department.
- The post holder will be expected to have an understanding of the operation of the department to assist in its smooth running and enable them to priorities workload.
- To ensure that all equipment is safe and clean at all times for patient use. This will include the use of sanitizing wipes on wheels chairs and mortuary trolleys between each patient use.
- May be required to work as a link operator to cover the service at times of staff shortage.
