The Therapy Assistant will assist with patient mobility, daily living tasks, and medication support, while also implementing and monitoring therapy plans as directed by therapists. The role includes mentoring new staff and trainees, as well as participating in ongoing training. Flexibility is expected, as the assistant may need to work across various frailty services depending on the needs of the hospital. Applicants should be prepared to cover the cost of their DBS check, which will be deducted from their salary following appointment.
Working Part time - 22 hours per week
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant, on a 12 month fixed term contract, to help support the provision of a rehabilitation service at Pinetum Nursing Home, based on the Countess of Chester Health Park. You will be part of the Inpatient Frailty Team at the Countess of Chester Hospital who are responsible for the therapy provision for these beds.
We provide therapy to approx. 12 patients who are in NHS funded rehabilitation beds within the care home. Our primary focus is to provide a high level of rehab in order to help support patients back to their own home. The service runs 5 days a week - Monday to Friday. You will work in conjunction with the Occupational Therapist, Senior Therapy Assistant and Discharge Co-Ordinator to help achieve timely and safe discharges whilst ensuring patients have the therapy provision to enhance their function.
Whilst this job is being advertised to specially cover Pinetum, you will be part of the wider Inpatient Frailty team, and as such, dependent on the needs of the service, you will need to be flexible to work across all frailty services, this includes our Intermediate Care facilities elsewhere.
- To assist with the handling and moving of patients and facilitate with patients daily living tasks on the wards or in the patients home environment, including support with medications.
- To treat patients, as instructed, following assessment by the therapist and be responsible for continuing the therapy plans, prioritising as necessary and informing the therapist of progress and change.
- To demonstrate own job role to new staff/trainees and work experience students.
- To undertake further training opportunities, as identified through appraisal and performance monitoring systems
