The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to recruit a Sustainability Coordinator to join its Environment Team. The Sustainability Co-ordinator will help the Environment Team implement a Trust wide approach to Net Zero and sustainability issues, through implementation of the LTHT Green Plan. They will assist in the management of energy, water, waste and carbon emissions throughout the Trust estate. This efficient management will lead to reduced usage/production, cost savings and an improved patient experience. This is a post suitable for an individual who wishes to develop and extend specialised skills and knowledge in the field of environmental management/sustainability within a large NHS provider Trust.
The role will include development and delivery of sustainability projects and staff engagement programmes, supporting sustainability communications both internally and externally, and supporting a portfolio of projects that support the Green Plan.
The Sustainability Coordinator will report to the Environment Manager but will also work flexibly and provide ongoing support to the wider team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, team player, who is proactive, resilient and driven to succeed, with a real commitment to work as part of the team. This includes service delivery of the Green Plan, Waste Management Policy, Travel Plan, Energy/ Water management & Estates Decarbonisation Plans. The Sustainability Co-ordinator will report to the Environment Manager (Sustainability & Waste).

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Assist the Environment Team in ensuring compliance with statutory legislation, health & safety, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs),
Codes of Practice etc.
Contribute to and support the maintenance of systems for collation, interpretation and analysis of Net Zero and sustainability data. Meeting internal and external reporting requirements and deadlines.
Carry out site-based audits to assess performance in line with Internal & external procedures, identifying corrective actions and reviewing and monitoring and supporting the close out of corrective actions.
To carry out the duties placed on employees by the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all statutory duties appertaining to their
sphere of work.
To support the delivery of the Environment Teams training portfolio and participate in internal and external events to share best
practice. Assist the Environment Team in promoting the Trusts network of Grasp Champions to drive ownership and continual
environmental improvement.
Prepare for and attend or chair as appropriate sustainability strategic group/ GRASP meetings, organise or take minutes, transcribe, circulate minutes.
To support delivery of the Environment Teams engagement and communication commitments including contributing to monthly newsletters, social media platforms, E&E Department intranet pages, Green Pods and associated internal and external events.
Assist the Environment Team to provide ongoing support and information to participating Green Impact teams.
To attend and report back on meetings and build strong partnerships with internal teams and external organisations to share good
practice, resources and promote sustainability.
To help the Environment Team with the production of reports including ERIC (Estates Return Information Collection), PAM (Premises
Assurance Model), Greener NHS reporting, Net Zero Group reporting, Financial Reporting, Annual Environmental Report, Care Quality
Commission, etc.
Support the Environment Team in the delivery of the Trust Green Plan objectives providing support on a range of projects in energy, water,
waste, travel and transport, procurement and green space and biodiversity and other action areas of the plan when relevant.
To deputise for Environment Team colleagues in their absence.
Support colleagues from other Trust departments to deliver a reduction in environmental impact e.g., working with IT to identify
savings from alternative technology solutions, HR to support with initiatives such as the cycle to work scheme and Procurement with
Fleet or Supply Chain related policies and guidance.
Provide support to the Environment Team with resolution of waste operational issues, providing advice and guidance to staff on waste
segregation.
To provide administration support and cover for admin duties, as and when required. Carry out any other duties that are appropriate and commensurate with the post holders pay band and grade.
