Further information about the Trust and this role can be found on the Job Description and Person Specification document attached.
We are happy to talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible working options can be discussed as part of the interview process. However, please bear in mind that this 12 month training programme has teaching requirements (which are not flexible) and a requirement to complete a minimum number of clinical hours within the 12 monthfixed-term period.
The successful candidates will be working as Senior Mental Health Practitioners within one of the CAMHS community teams for the duration of the one year course and would split their time between training and carrying out clinical work. After successful completion of the course the fixed term training contract will end; however, applicants would be encouraged to apply for any vacant posts within the service.
This is a training position and so all candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with our organisation and the KCL Postgraduate Diploma Children & Young People's Mental Health Therapies: Systemic Family Practice in order to be shortlisted (for more information about the course and entry criteria, please see attached documentation). Please complete your university application using the KLC Application Guidance supplied.
It is very important to mention which modality/modalities you are applying for and why you are qualified & interested in them. Candidates will have a CAMHS-recognised core qualification (nursing, social work, occupational therapy etc.) and will be registered with either the NMC, the HCPC or Social Work England. Please note that although counselling and teaching are recognised as valid professional qualifications on the KCL documentation, CAMHS does not recognise these as core qualifications, and therefore employment within Hampshire CAMHS would not be possible with these qualifications.
As this is a training position, please be aware that this is a dual application process where you must be employed in a Recruit to Train funded job to also receive a place on the course, and vice-versa. If you are ineligible for the University Course, you will be unable to be offered the role. If you withdraw from an employment offer but you have accepted a university offer, you will be unable to join the course.
This role will be best suited for applicants that are able to balance a busy work and study schedule. You will be an employee of the service but also enrolled on a Postgraduate Diploma course. As this is a Postgraduate level diploma, you will also be required to be able to study and write academic material at this level. Applicants must be prepared to study and write assignments outside of protected study time (such as on weekends and after work).
Please note that when you apply to this role, your name will be shared with the Higher Education Institute (HEI) running the course. The service will usually be the Course Team's main way of contacting you until you have been sent an Offer, and so the Course Team at the HEI may ask for information if it is missing but relevant to deciding eligibility. Other information that might be shared is:
Reason behind ineligibility for the course.
Queries regarding application (such as if you claim to have a professional registration without submitting certificates, course may ask service to pursue more information)
Name change -- if you may have registered with a different name than HEI was given, they will confirm with service to ensure that they are reviewing the correct candidate.
This is an integral part of the process to confirm that you have applied to the University and that you meet their course requirements. Please apply to the University at the same time as applying to this job position.
If you apply for this role, you are giving permission for information to be shared between the Course Team at the HEI and the Recruitment team at the Trust. The only information that is shared will be relevant to establishing eligibility for the job/course. No irrelevant information will be disclosed or discussed in relation to your application.
Former EMHP and CWP graduates (or graduates from any other HEE/NHSE funded course) need to be 2-years post-graduation to be eligible to apply (graduated by January 2023).
Please note in this instance the course is not optional; there will be a joint interview process including UCL to appoint to these roles. The roles are dependent on meeting all course requirements.

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician to further their skills in a role that makes a positive impact in young people's lives within an innovative CAMHS service. This one-year fixed term training post is for qualified professionals with post registration experience to work as a 'Recruit to Train' therapist and Senior Mental Health Practitioner within a CAMHS team alongside other clinicians delivering evidence-based interventions.
This post provides the opportunity to complete training in Systemic Family Practice (SFP) delivering evidence-based systemic interventions for children and young people experiencing depression and self-harm or conduct disorder (with direct clinical supervision). The course is delivered by leading practitioners in the field at King's College London in collaboration with Anna Freud Centre. The post-holder will work within Hampshire CAMHS as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate, under supervision, high-quality evidence-based systemic interventions for referred young people in collaboration with professional colleagues and clinical services, in order to enable continuity of care.
The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the necessary knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value-driven service.
The post holder will attend all university based taught and self-study days required by the education provider, as specified within the agreed national curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills.
