The Therapeutic Radiographer Apprentice (XR04) role at Leeds Teaching Hospitals is a three-year training position aimed at developing skills in therapeutic radiography, culminating in a bachelor's degree and eligibility for HCPC registration. This apprenticeship involves both theoretical education at Sheffield Hallam University and practical experience within the radiotherapy department, where the apprentice will provide patient care and support while treating approximately 6,500 cancer patients annually. The trainee will rotate through various areas of the department, working under supervision, and is expected to engage in both clinical practice and continuous learning to ensure high standards of patient care and professional development.

The role demands flexibility in working hours, participation in team activities, and adherence to Trust policies related to patient safety, infection control, and equality. Trainees will have protected study time and must demonstrate commitment to developing their skills, contributing to clinical discussions, and managing their own time efficiently. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the apprentice will also be responsible for maintaining a high standard of communication and support for patients, addressing both their physical and emotional needs.
