The role of Specialty Doctor in the BNSSG Community Perinatal Service involves providing essential perinatal psychiatric support to women experiencing mental health challenges during and post-pregnancy within Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire. The successful candidate will engage in risk assessment, care planning, and crisis management for women with existing mental health conditions or those newly affected. The position offers a mix of remote and face-to-face consultations, alongside supervision by a Consultant Psychiatrist and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

In addition to direct patient care, the Specialty Doctor will provide expert advice on psychotropic medication use during pregnancy and breastfeeding to GPs and other health professionals while staying aligned with evolving service needs. The role emphasises flexibility and innovation in delivering a comprehensive perinatal mental health pathway, supported by a network of specialist teams across the region.
