HCPC MENTAL HEALTH NHS PARAMEDIC VEHICLE
The Advanced Paramedic Mental Health role with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is designed for experienced Paramedics looking to enhance their clinical practice in mental health emergency care. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in advanced clinical practice or a Postgraduate Diploma and have post-registration experience in mental health service delivery. This role involves providing clinical supervision and mentorship to Specialist Paramedics, allowing them to work autonomously while supporting patients with mental health issues through both telephone consultations and face-to-face assessments. The post holder will lead a team, ensure high clinical standards are met, and engage in research, promoting improvement in mental health care pathways.

The position emphasises the four pillars of advanced practice: expert clinical practice, clinical leadership, research and audit, and education. As part of their responsibilities, the Advanced Paramedic will coordinate the care of patients with complex mental health needs, offer advanced clinical support, and contribute to incident investigations related to mental health. The role also requires collaboration with wider healthcare teams and may occasionally involve representing the Trust in mental health forums. The opportunity is open only to qualified Paramedics with HCPC Registration, and part-time working options may be considered.
