Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a Community Substance Misuse Nurse to join their Community Drug and Alcohol Team in Aberystwyth. This role involves managing a clinical caseload of clients facing substance misuse challenges and complex health issues, including co-occurring mental health conditions and physical health complications. Although the position is initially advertised as a Band 6 role, candidates who do not meet the full competency requirements may still apply and will receive support to develop the required skills over a 12-month period. The role also includes conducting community-based detoxification programs, managing blood-borne viruses, and collaborating with partner agencies to enhance service delivery and treatment outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a background in substance misuse nursing and experience in adult mental health or general healthcare settings. They will support the Team Leader in providing clinical leadership and supervision, particularly for clients with complex needs, and contribute to service development initiatives. The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable but not mandatory, as the Health Board offers support for language development. The position emphasises a recovery-focused treatment model and involves working closely with various statutory and third sector organisations.
