The role of "Orthoptist - With Extended Role" at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in Harlow involves overseeing daily orthoptic clinics and managing Orthoptic services within the department. The successful candidate will undertake extended roles in ophthalmology through the Ophthalmic Practitioner Training (OPT) program and will provide comprehensive orthoptic services across various sub-specialties, including Neuro-ophthalmology, Glaucoma, Paediatric clinics, and Eye Emergency services.

As an autonomous practitioner, the Orthoptist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and planning treatments for patients with various visual disorders, as well as managing their clinical workload and discharge when appropriate. The role also includes a managerial component, such as supporting junior staff, addressing patient needs, and leading staff meetings.
