The Equipment Technician at Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust will contribute to the Knowsley wheelchair service, which provides vital support to individuals of all ages who require wheelchairs. This full-time (37.5 hours) and part-time (15 hours) role involves refurbishing, repairing, and maintaining wheelchairs to facilitate safe discharges from hospital and to promote independence among users. Key responsibilities include assisting the Clinical Engineer Technician, managing stock control, conducting repairs both at the base and in community environments, and ensuring efficient organisation of workloads.

The technician will also participate in quality assurance processes, including the categorisation of equipment for repair, salvaging parts for sustainability, and delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) for wheelchairs. Additional duties involve managing deliveries of spare parts, reporting defective materials, and, during staffing shortages, potentially taking on other roles such as equipment delivery and fitting. The role emphasises a commitment to service excellence and continuous professional development.
