Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant in Diagnostic Imaging with a strong interest in Breast Imaging to join the Portsmouth Breast Unit. The ideal candidate will possess modern breast radiology skills, be eager to learn new techniques, and contribute to developing the breast service. The unit is one of the largest in the UK, treating around 700 new breast cancer cases annually and operating a recognized Breast Screening Service that invites 85,000 women per screening round. The imaging facility, equipped with advanced mammography units and diagnostic tools, plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer.

The successful candidate will engage in the local breast screening program and the symptomatic breast service, dedicating at least 4 PAs to this work while also contributing to the broader challenges of the radiology department. Responsibilities include active participation in multi-disciplinary team meetings, teaching medical students and trainees, and involvement in research and audits. Candidates with additional interests in Oncology and Gynaecology imaging are particularly desirable, and full-time applicants will be expected to support both acute and elective imaging services.
