The role of Senior Oncoplastic Clinical Fellow in Breast Surgery at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is a 12-month appointment starting on April 1, 2025. Candidates must have at least four years of surgical experience, including six months in breast surgery, and hold an MBBS with full GMC registration. The position involves daily ward rounds, scheduled theatre sessions, outpatient clinics, and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, primarily at Queen's Hospital in Burton, with some duties at Royal Derby Hospital. The role is well-supervised and provides opportunities for skill development, though it is not recognized as a formal training post.
Key responsibilities include enhancing Oncoplastic Breast Surgery, maintaining clinical standards in breast service management, sharing operational responsibilities with colleagues, and engaging in the teaching of junior staff and medical students. The fellow will also participate in clinical governance, audit activities, and ongoing medical education without any on-call commitments.

This is an appointment to cover a 12 months period commencing 1st April 2025.
Applicants should have a minimum of 4 years' experience in Surgery (not including Foundation Years) of which 6 months must be Breast Surgery. Possession of the MBBS, plus full GMC registration with Licence to Practise at the time of application is essential.
The elective work involves daily ward rounds, time-tabled sessions for theatre and out-patient clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings. Whilst it is not yet a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.
The post will primarily cover services at Queen's Hospital, Burton with some additional responsibilities at Royal Derby Hospital.
There is no on-call commitment with this post.
