An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 6 Specialist Nurse to join an enthusiastic, forward thinking, multidisciplinary team, within the older people's acute mental health inpatient ward (Functional) serving Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire - Maister Court.

Maister Court is a small team working with 5 acute female beds.The team consists of a diverse range of professionals: psychiatrists; psychologists; nurses; pharmacists, health care assistants; occupational therapists, and an assistant practitioner, which enables the care provided to be holistic and person centred.

Psychological and psychosocial interventions, as well as therapeutic activities, are offered daily, with emphasis on relapse prevention and support with recovery. A weekly timetable offers various group interventions, such as Discussion Groups, Complementary Therapies and relaxation, including yoga, baking and Mindfulness.

We work very closely with carers and family members, and also liaise with community staff and social care to enable all relevant parties to be involved in care planning.

Staff wellbeing and support is very important to us and we have various embedded systems in place to promote this, including regular clinical and managerial supervision, reflective practice, team discussions and 6 monthly team away days.

As a Specialist Nurse on Maister Court you will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team providing a high level of specialist care, working towards a trauma informed model of care. You will assist the management team in all aspects of running a unit, including providing supervision to others, completing clinical audits and providing a high level of clinical expertise to the team.
