The paediatric intensive care unit is seeking a Band 6 nurse to cover either part time or full time hours working an even split of long days and nights. The unit has 9 Intensive care beds and 4 High dependency beds. We are looking for a committed paediatric nurse with leadership and organisational skills with a vision to provide a quality service and to maximise a positive patient experience.
Development opportunities at a local level are actively encouraged and you will be supported in gaining relevant qualifications to your role and career progression.
To care for level 3 and 2 patients including those requiring advanced therapies such as nitric oxide and haemofiltration.
To support, teach and be a role model for other staff on the PICU and the wider MDT
To carry the Paediatric resuscitation and trauma bleeps
To support and line manage band 5, 4 and 3 staff members within their team
To be the shift co-ordinator of the PICU when required, which includes dealing with admissions/ discharges, staffing issues, liaising with all members of the MDT and troubleshooting any day to day matters that may arise.
Bleep holder for Children's services (as allocated) involving co-ordinating admissions/transfers/discharges, supporting staff across all the Paediatric areas and escalating issues appropriately.
