The GP Associate Dean role in Taunton with NHS England involves supporting the Primary Care Dean and the Heads of School for General Practice to ensure high-quality GP specialty training and safe patient care. The position is responsible for coordinating and managing postgraduate general practice training activities within the Somerset GP training program, which may extend to other local areas in the future. The role encompasses overseeing recruitment and placement issues, managing education budgets, and leading local education initiatives, along with line management of Training Programme Directors.

Additionally, the Associate Dean is tasked with enhancing the primary care workforce through multi-professional education and recruitment initiatives, collaborating closely with educational and clinical supervisors to ensure effective training for medical professionals. The position involves participation in the approval processes for trainers and practices and delivering various support projects for doctors in training, emphasizing a collaborative approach with other educators and leadership within the primary care system. The role requires a commitment of 4 sessions (16 hours) per week.
