1. To provide a support service to the technical, secretarial, medical and nursing staff of the Department. 2. To carry out receptionist duties, including prioritising and arranging appointments and maintaining the various appointment systems, identifying test requests and investigations, and co-ordinating the various clinics within the department. 3. To deal with patients and external and internal staff enquiries in person or via the telephone, in a courteous and confidential manner and provide assistance as required. 4. To ensure patients safety and well-being in the waiting area prior to them being called for their appointment and alerting appropriate staff to any cause for concern. 5. To keep a log of telephone requests for investigations in line with department policy, prioritising these and ensuring messages are conveyed to the appropriate technical staff.

The Respiratory Medicine directorate has an exciting opportunity to join the diverse and friendly admin team as a receptionist. The forward-thinking and developing department incorporates new and exciting areas of interest including lung cancer, sleep, interstitial lung disease, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, oxygen, COPD, tuberculosis; as well as a vibrant outpatient department, respiratory investigation unit, lung function lab and a large inpatient footprint, all innovated collaboratively between the clinical, nursing and administrative teams. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, pro-active and organised to join our vibrant and supportive team.

o Be a member of a large dynamic admin team and will provide an essential first point of contact between the hospital, patients and their relatives, and diverse staff groups including clinicians, nurses and administrative teams.o Deal efficiently and effectively with direct and indirect patient contact.o Be able to work well autonomously and as part of a team.o Demonstrate and maintain knowledge of Trust and National policies.o Gain experience of the sub-specialties in Respiratory and provide high-quality secretarial support.
