The Nursing Associate - Theatres/Scrub Band 4 position at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust in Grantham is a pivotal role designed to enhance patient care by bridging the gap between health and care assistants and registered nurses. Nursing associates are responsible for providing person-centred, safe, and compassionate care, working collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams that include nurses and other healthcare professionals. They engage in the nursing process, assisting registered nurses with ongoing assessment, planning, management, and evaluation of care, particularly for individuals with complex needs.

Key responsibilities include performing and recording clinical observations, such as taking vital signs and conducting routine procedures like venepuncture and ECG recording. The role also involves interpreting various health metrics, such as blood glucose levels and BMI, to identify patient needs and support health outcomes. o Nursing associate is a new role being introduced into the health and care workforce in England from 2. Nursing associates are intended to bridge a gap between health and care assistants, and registered nurses

o Nursing associates act in the best interests of people, putting them first and providing nursing care that is person-centred, safe and compassionate

o Nursing associates play an active role as members of interdisciplinary teams, collaborating and communicating effectively with nurses, a range of other health and care professionals and lay carers

o Nursing associates contribute to the provision of care for people, including those with complex needs

Develop understanding of all elements of the nursing process and be able to assist the registered nurse in the on-going assessment, planning, management and evaluation of care.

Perform and record clinical observations including ; o accurately measure weight and height, calculate body mass index and recognise healthy ranges and clinically significant low/high readings o use manual techniques and devices to take, record and interpret vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration (TPR), blood pressure (BP) and pulse oximetry in order to identify signs of improvement, deterioration or concern.

To undertake venepuncture and routine ECG recording o measure and interpret blood glucose levels.
