The Older People's Inpatient Service at The Mount has a fabulous opportunity to join our expanding inpatient teams. We welcome experienced nurses who are passionate about older adult care & making a difference in people's lives. You will want to develop as a charge nurse/ sister & hold an enthusiasm for service development & leadership, be naturally highly motivated, caring, compassionate & proud to work with older adults.

The Mount has four wards (two dementia assessment, two functional mental health), dedicated to the delivery of safe & effective care to the older adult population of Leeds, priding ourselves on our excellent mental health & outstanding physical health care. The Older Peoples Inpatient Service provides inpatient care, assessment and treatment to service users living with dementia and service users with functional mental health needs such as diagnosis of depression or psychosis. We aim to provide effective person centered care to all service users and offer an individualized care plan that both aids in recovery and promotes wellbeing. We also aim to work in partnership with service users to both maintain a person's skills and personhood but also work in promoting coping strategies.

You will provide strong leadership to your team on a day to day basis, providing staff with monthly supervision, annual appraisal and offering expertise and support regarding patient flow -ensuring effective care and timely appropriate discharges from the ward.

As Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for assisting the Ward Manager in all duties relating to the overall wider responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and the setting and role modelling of standards of care across the teams.

An essential aspect of the role will be to take a lead in designated areas of practice across the Unit, working with the Service Matron and Ward Manager to develop an action plan, identify training and development needs and consider audit requirements in relation to this area (e.g medicines management, purposeful admission, educational lead). You will also take an active role in project work to achieve high standards of clinical care e.g. Dementia Care Mapping and best practice in dementia care, Promoting wrap or recovery focused models of care.
