CANCER CASELOAD FAMILY HOLISTIC NHS ROLE MODEL
The Nurse Specialist (XR06) position at Leeds Teaching Hospitals involves providing comprehensive care to teenagers and young adults (aged 16-25) with cancer within the Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Service. The successful candidate will possess either a Paediatric, Adult, or Dual nursing qualification, along with relevant experience in cancer care. Key responsibilities include acting as a Key Worker for patients and their families, assessing care needs, planning and implementing care programs, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote equitable, age-appropriate care across the Yorkshire and Humberside region.

The role also emphasises excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and the provision of education and support to healthcare professionals regarding the specific needs of young cancer patients. The Nurse Specialist will manage their own caseload while contributing to the development of the specialty service and ensuring high standards of care are met, along with the efficient use of resources.
