Specialist practitioner with Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust in Northumberland
This is an exciting opportunity to join Northumberland's Emotional Wellbeing Support Team (NEWST) located in Northumberland's Children Social Care, offering and developing a specialist child and adolescent Trauma informed mental health service that provides support and understanding of children and young people. NEWST is part of a wider provision of children and young peoples mental health services delivered by Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS foundation trust (CNTW). NEWST clinicians work hard to support the understanding of a child or young persons presentation in the context of their lived experience as reflected in the Trauma Informed Care principles and framework for integrated care. The team currently consists of specialist practitioners, senior psychological therapist, team manager (from CSC) and Clinical manager (from CNTW). The post holder would be required to have extensive experience of working with Children and Young People in Mental Health services (community/inpatient), working with children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, experience of working with Children, young people and families that are involved with statutory Social Care services and/or Early help provisions and supporting Care Teams understanding of the childs/young persons needs and how they can be best met. It's hoped the post holder will have experience of working with Children and young people who have disabilities and who experience Neurodiversity's. In addition, the post holder would need experience of working across partner organisations and agencies and be able to demonstrate experience of working autonomously and as part of a team. The post holder will be required to work flexibly in approach and have the ability to offer support across the Northumberland locality. This is an exciting opportunity intended to build upon current provisions. About us As an Advanced Practitioner you will be expected to offer (and support colleagues to offer) advice and guidance, multi-agency consultations/formulations, training, scaffolding, reflective practice and support CPD opportunities. Although the team does not currently work directly with children and young people, ideas are being explored as to how this can be introduced within the current service offer. This approach is intended to promote stability, resilience and confidence in the system around a young person, thus enabling the young people with complex needs to be supported to thrive in the safety of positive relationships. To support the understanding of the impact that NEWST is having towards NCC becoming more Trauma Informed and children and young peoples needs being understood and met, there will be opportunities to engage in service evaluation and reviews helping to shape the offer moving forward. You will have experience of working with children and young people with complex presentations, mental health difficulties, disrupted attachments, learning difficulties and neurodivers presentations. You will be passionate about the importance of Trauma Informed Care as this is at the centre of all NEWST do but you will also be skilled to identify clinical presentations that may also need further support from the wider clinical offer within Northumberland's graduated response. You will have experience of working within complex health and social care systems and be keen to support the collaboration between agencies, whilst holding the young person in mind.
