  • Provide professional and operational leadership to the ILD Team as well as support service development.
  • Be responsible for high quality care and the efficient, safe, and effective performance of respiratory team members including staff management.
  • The post holder will be a skilled and competent nurse with experience in caring for patients with interstitial lung disease, with the ability to work autonomous and as part of a team.
  • Providing a high standard of specialist nursing care implementing and monitoring quality assurance initiatives including development of action plans and measuring outcomes.
  • To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirement of the Health and Safety Regulations.

  • Provide clinical expertise and expert knowledge to MDT members, patients and carers.
  • Ensure that systems are in place to collect and monitor patient feedback, including complaints, and deal proactively with issues raised.
  • Assess the complex health and wellbeing needs of patients with ILD. Develop, monitor, and review plans of care to meet those needs, including blood test monitoring and managing symptoms in consultation with the medical team.
  • To ensure that nursing care is assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated using research evidence as appropriate.
  • To act as an advocate for and support the patient and their carers. Be the key worker in coordinating the efforts of the multidisciplinary team, including onward referral to community/HOS-AR teams as needed.
  • Participate in collecting audit data for quality and governance metrics.
