The role of Consultant - Medical Oncologist at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester involves working 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week, focusing on providing care for patients with Head and Neck, Thyroid, and non-melanoma skin tumours across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The appointee will join an established team of oncologists and actively participate in multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to manage oncology services, including outpatient and inpatient care.

Key responsibilities include delivering systemic therapy, managing patient treatment plans, contributing to clinical governance and research, and training junior doctors and healthcare staff. The role also involves participating in audits and maintaining professional development in line with Royal College recommendations.

The position entails overseeing around 220 new patients annually, involvement in chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments, and leadership within the electro-chemotherapy service. The on-call commitment includes participating in a rota (1:20 rotation) for acute admissions, with potential future changes under review. The consultant will have access to necessary office facilities and secretarial support.
