Are you passionate and dedicated about improving cancer and end of life care? An exciting opportunity has arisen for the roles of Specialist Haemato-oncology and Palliative Care (HOPe) Therapists (Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist) within the Haematology, Oncology and Palliative Care Team at HDFT Posts available: 1)Specialist Haemato-oncology and Palliative Care (HOPe) Occupational Therapist (30hrs per week Band 6) 2) Specialist Haemato-oncology and Palliative Care (HOPe) Physiotherapist (22.5 hours per week Band 6) These are fixed term /secondment project post until 31/3/26 from start of appointment to develop and deliver a high-quality heamato- oncology and palliative care specialist Therapy service to patients under the care of HDFT The post holders will work alongside the band 7 specialist occupational therapist who will lead the project within a multidisciplinary team consisting of Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist and Dietetic and administrative support To provide specialist and autonomous evidence based HOP interventions, managing a complex caseload of outpatient and community patients to ensure optimal clinical outcomes Within Cancer, the service will focus on patients diagnosed with Cancer of unknown primary (CUP), Lung, Upper GI, primary Brain cancers and those with haematological malignancy. Within Specialist Palliative Care the service will focus on patients with progressive life limiting illness and complex needs within the defined referral criteria To provide a high standard of specialist therapy assessment and intervention for patients, with complex needs in the community, outpatients and specialist advice to therapy colleagues in hospital settings to: facilitate optimal level of function and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions, facilitate optimal level of function to enable consideration of anticancer treatment facilitate preferred place of care, optimise symptom control, help to maximise quality of life and address individual needs To work towards and align with the Trust strategy and values.
