Job Summary: Lead Pharmacy Technician - University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust
The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Pharmacy Technician. This role involves overseeing the management and utilization of high-cost medicines within the trust, ensuring accurate data capture and reporting for reimbursement purposes. Key responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring the issuing of high-cost therapies and improving their utilization to maximize cost savings.
  • Reporting to finance and external bodies such as NHS England and managing rebate schemes.
  • Supporting and leading specialist pharmacy services, including unlicensed medicines and procurement.
  • Assisting in the recruitment, training, and management of pharmacy staff to meet service goals.
  • Maintaining pharmacy computer systems and ensuring efficient medication supply to avoid therapy delays.
  • Conducting audits and participating in Quality & Safety meetings.
  • Assisting in the procurement of pharmaceuticals and managing supply issues.
This position requires strong leadership abilities, expert IT knowledge, and a focus on cost-effective practices within the pharmacy services.
