University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant UGI Surgeon with a specialisation in bariatric surgery to join their team at the Royal Derby Hospital. The UGI department offers comprehensive outpatient diagnostic services and inpatient elective surgeries for various conditions, including benign, bariatric, and malignant diseases, serving a wide geographical area. The successful candidate will be part of a team of nine UGI consultants, supported by junior doctors and clinical staff, and will have access to advanced surgical facilities, including integrated laparoscopic theatres and robotic surgery options.

The role involves providing both elective and emergency surgical services for UGI and bariatric patients, as well as involvement in managing general surgical emergencies. The job plan will encompass outpatient clinics, theatre sessions, endoscopic and day case work, along with administrative duties and some emergency cover as part of a 1:9 consultant rota. The ideal candidate must hold GMC registration with a valid license to practice and will work collaboratively to enhance patient care in a supportive environment.
