Band Consultant: £105,504 to £139,882 a year per annum. Plus on call Supplement  PERMANENT 
The post will be based at Royal Derby Hospital, delivering the full range of outpatient and inpatient services for UGI and bariatric patients, both on site and at outreach clinics.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant UGI Surgeon with a special interest in bariatric surgery.

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital the UGI department provides a full range of out-patient diagnostic services and inpatient elective operating services for benign, bariatric and malignant disease as well as outpatient clinics and day case sessions. The department provides a full service to patients with Upper GI cancers across Derby-Burton and Bariatric services for the East Midlands, serving Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

There are currently 9 UGI consultants within the unit, supported by a team of junior doctors, clinical fellows and clinical nurse specialists.

The department has access to a 9 theatre inpatient suite and a 3 theatre Day Case facility. The inpatient theatre suite boasts two fully integrated laparoscopic theatres and the Trust offers Da Vinci Robotic cancer surgery in urology, colorectal, head and neck and UGI/HPB.

The post will be based at Royal Derby Hospital, delivering the full range of outpatient and inpatient services for UGI and bariatric patients, both on site and at outreach clinics. The post holder will also provide emergency general surgery for adults and paediatrics as part of a 1:9 consultant rota, and should have experience in managing general, UGI & paediatric emergencies, including cancer and bariatric emergencies.

The final job plan will be agreed between the Consultant and Assistant Clinical Director but will include dedicated outpatient clinics for benign and bariatric patients at Royal Derby Hospital and outreach sites, inpatient theatre sessions, endoscopy and day case sessions.

In addition the job plan will include dedicated time for administration, supporting professional activities, ward rounds and 2 PAs for emergency work.

The successful candidate must be registered with the GMC with a valid licence to practice at the time of application.
