An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Sexual and Reproductive Health Service for a Band 5 Nurse.
The post holder will work 22.5 hours per week.
The post is based at the Aberystwyth Clinic; however the successful candidate will be expected to regularly work at the Clinic in Cardigan and also provide cover as needed at Sexual Health Clinics across Hywel Dda.
Our busy Team see approximately 25,000 patients each year with a mixture of virtual and face to face consultations. We offer a range of services including routine and complex contraception, management of sexually transmitted infections, cervical screening, a pregnancy advisory/ Abortion service and psychosexual counselling.
This is a developmental post that will provide opportunities to develop, and enhancement of clinical expertise in all aspects of sexual and reproductive health care.
The post holder will be expected to undertake formal academic, theoretical and practical training to develop integrated sexual health skills within an agreed timescale .
To provide a high standard of confidential, sensitive and non-judgemental sexual health advice both virtually and face to face, respecting the cultural beliefs and practices of patients.
Following appropriate training, advise patients about methods of contraception, the detection and management of sexually transmitted infections and risk reduction.
Undertake consultations with clients requesting termination of pregnancy, assessing and discussing treatment options in a supportive, non-judgemental manner in accordance with NMC guidelines for professional practice and the abortion act 1967.
Assist medical staff providing termination of pregnancy services. Support patients before, during and after their termination of pregnancy, and direct them to other support services when indicated.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
