Band 6: £37,338 to £44,962 a year  PERMANENT 
The candidates will be located at either Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Heartlands Hospital site but will be expected to travel and work across sites when required.

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest teaching hospital trusts in England, serving a regional, national, and international population. The Trust has Pathology Laboratories located at Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospital sites. The STP plan for Birmingham and Solihull will result in a major reorganization of Pathology services provided across Birmingham and Pathology IT systems will play a critical role in delivering an efficient Pathology service.

The Pathology Service has several fixed term and permanent vacancies for Band 6 Pathology IT Support Officer. We are looking for motivated and flexible individuals who have knowledge and experience of working in a Pathology environment and have extensive knowledge of Pathology IT systems. The successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and developing Pathology IT systems.

The candidates will be located at either Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Heartlands Hospital site but will be expected to travel and work across sites when required. The working hours will be 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

The suitable candidates will work closely with Pathology IT Management, system suppliers, the Laboratory Management Team and Trust ICT Department. You will be expected to provide application and hardware support for a variety of pathology systems across Chemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Blood Transfusion and Cellular Pathology Departments. In addition, you will assist in the rollout of electronic ordering to GP users and within the Trust.

Currently, the Pathology Department is in the process of building and developing a new laboratory Information Management system. The successful candidates will be involved in the development and implementation of the new system due to go live in 2025/26.
