Baildon Medical Practice in Shipley is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join their experienced nursing team due to a recent retirement. This full-time role involves supporting the practice nurses with various tasks, including conducting new patient health checks, performing baseline observations (like blood pressure and pulse rate), and facilitating chronic disease management. Additional responsibilities may include wound care, assisting during minor operations, and administering vaccinations and ECGs, all under appropriate training and supervision.

As an integral part of the healthcare team, the Health Care Assistant will also engage in health promotion activities, ensure clinical rooms are well-stocked and maintained, and manage clinical waste in accordance with established policies. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care while working collaboratively with registered healthcare professionals in a supportive environment.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join Baildon Medical Practice. Due to retirement, we are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join our experienced nursing team to work full time alongside our clinical team.

Undertake new patient health checks

Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes

Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately

Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly

e. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics

Carry out BMI checks as directed

Act as a chaperone as required

iWhen trained, undertake venepuncture

When trained, administer flu vaccinations

Carry out ECGs once trained

Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation

Provide support during minor operations as required

Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session

Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance

Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the organisations IPC policy

Deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate
