An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners in Respiratory Medicine. We are looking to recruit an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) within our Respiratory Medicine service. You will need to have experience of working as an ACP in acute Respiratory Medicine and evidence of working across the 4 pillars of advanced practice. Advanced clinical practitioners will be expected to have an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Nurse/clinical Practitioner) or a recognised equivalent, e.g. e-portfolio. The ACPs are pivotal in the triage, assessment, ordering and interpretation of appropriate tests and investigations, and treatment, including non medical prescribing, of acutely unwell Respiratory patients. The Respiratory ACP is a key leadership role within the Respiratory medicine team, working alongside both medical and ward based teams. The role is exciting and varied including working as a part of the respiratory medicine team assessing and treating patients on the wards, in pleural clinics and outpatient clinics with a view to reducing length of stay, admission avoidance and promoting safe discharge through ACP led clinics. We are looking for an ACP with experience of teaching, service improvement and excellent clinical leadership skills. Experience in pleural services, including assessment and treatment would be advantageous.
The Advanced Clinical Practitioners have clinical supervision by a respiratory consultant and the Lead ACP for Medicine. The ACP team will be supported with opportunities for continuous professional development. There is a requirement for ACP's to maintain a clinical portfolio of evidence across the 4 pillars of advanced practice. At present the respiratory Advanced Clinical Practitioner service currently works core hours Monday-Friday.
