The Band 7 Lead Medical Examiner Officer (MEO) position at Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust involves overseeing a team of Medical Examiner Officers while coordinating daily office operations and collaborating with Medical Examiners. The role is instrumental in ensuring the accuracy of death certifications and enhancing the involvement of bereaved families, aligning with the national Medical Examiner system mandated by NHS England. Key responsibilities include leadership in strategic planning, maintaining national standards, compiling and reporting data, facilitating innovative practices, and ensuring quality service delivery to bereaved individuals.

Additionally, the Lead MEO serves as a point of contact for families and healthcare professionals, providing expert advice on compliance with death certification legislation. The position supports the development and implementation of policies and protocols to improve services across acute hospitals and community settings. This full-time role, based across Royal Free and Barnet Hospitals, requires a commitment to a compassionate and responsive service, which includes occasional out-of-hours work on weekends and public holidays.
