The team require an experienced Children's Nurse to join the Children's Community Nursing team in the Dudley Borough.
Hours- 22.5 hours per week
Based at Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre. The nurse will support children with complex health needs and children with long term health conditions that require nursing interventions. The nurse works closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and Special Schools. Home visits and community visits will be carried out.
The role includes teaching/training parents and school staff to ensure the health needs of the children are met, this may involve epilepsy management, enteral feeding and tracheostomy care.
The nurse will require the experience and ability to manage emergency health situations ensuring the safety of the child and others in the absence of the band 6
We require an experienced Registered Children's Nurse with recent experience of working with children with complex health needs. Previous community nursing experience would be desirable.
The nurses are expected to provide cover for all the other nurses in the team when the need arises .

To work within the Children's Community nursing team to provide clinical nursing care to children and young children in the community. This will involve supporting families and carer with a range of clinical needs for their children. The team support children with enteral feeding devices and feeding; children with complex health needs including oxygen/suction and at times tracheostomies and ventilators. The team are involved with a wider multiagency team and will communicate with others to ensure the support is available
About us
Demonstrate continual evaluation of clinical practice and recommend changes
Provide and maintain a high standard of skilled nursing care /skills for children with additional health needs. This will include-
Taking bloods, repassing nasogastric tubes and gastrostomies, recording oxygen saturations, proving and giving rescue medication, providing suction, tracheostomy care, injections, dressings, pressure area care and assessments
Assist in the completion of detailed holistic assessments of children and families, while giving consideration to cultural differences.
Clinically assess children in homes/schools as appropaite and provide support/information and the necessary advice or care to maintain the safety of the child. This may at times envolve escalating and calling ambulances
Assist in the completion of Education and Health Care Plans
enuring that the changing needs of individual children and families are identified and that adjustments are made to the childs care plan.
To establish or maintain relationships with the child and family where relevant
Encourage children and families to participate in their care by providing training and support on a range of clinical procedures to meet the health needs of the child within scope of expertise
Provide training and support to other areas of the community i.e school and nursery staff
Completing accurate and timely recordings of involvement with the child and family and reporting any changes affecting the child and family appropriately.
Undertake specific clinical tasks and skills for which the nurse has received
training and is deemed competent in all clinical settings
Working in conjunction with other agencies, ensure the appropriate planning for the
transition of care takes place in a timely fashion and meets the on going needs of the child/young person and family.
Develop and maintain effective communication networks with professionals from other agencies and voluntary groups.
