The South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Medical Secretary to join their Respiratory Service team for a permanent position of 14.25 hours per week. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the delivery of a high-quality service for patients, consultants, and nurses. Key responsibilities include typing correspondence, managing patient appointments, handling phone inquiries, overseeing clinical diaries and rotas, and validating waiting lists, all aimed at maintaining the efficient operation of the department.

Applicants should have relevant qualifications such as AMSPAR, OCR, or RSA Level 3 in typing, or two years of experience in a similar role, along with knowledge of medical terminology and audio typing skills. Strong organisational abilities, a flexible work approach, and empathetic communication skills are essential, as the role involves direct interaction with patients. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate Level 2 numeracy and literacy skills in their application to be considered for the position.
