The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant Obstetrician to join a team of 27 other consultants within a busy secondary care setting. The role involves managing antenatal clinics, performing Caesarean sections, and providing support in the resident Labour Ward both day and night. The successful candidate will be expected to develop enhanced clinical skills, particularly in assessing and managing acutely ill patients, and will need to possess excellent teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively within a multi-professional environment.

A formal job plan will be established within three months of appointment, detailing the consultant's duties, responsibilities, and objectives, which will include clinical work, teaching, research, and managerial responsibilities. A full-time position consists of a 10 PA working week, with a breakdown of 8.5 PAs for Direct Clinical Care and 1.5 SPAs for supporting professional activities, including risk management and continuous professional development. The job plan will be reviewed annually to align with service needs and personal objectives.
