The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking a full-time Principal Clinical Scientist to join its Clinical Biochemistry team at North Midlands and Cheshire Pathology Services (NMCPS) in Crewe. Applicants must be HCPC registered and ideally have passed the Royal College of Pathologists Part 1 examinations, although those currently pursuing this qualification may be considered for a Senior Clinical Scientist role (Band 7) until completion. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative team, providing high-quality analytical and interpretive services, participating in various laboratory rotas, and acting as the clinical liaison for specific areas. Additionally, they will engage in training, service improvement projects, and opportunities for applied clinical research and innovation.

NMCPS, established in December 2020, serves a diverse population and operates multiple accredited laboratories across East Cheshire and Staffordshire. The role offers flexibility in primary work location to support a healthy work/life balance, with the candidate expected to work across all sites as needed. There are significant opportunities for professional development and the chance to initiate projects that align with the department’s clinical strategy.
