The role of Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist at Brainkind in Birmingham involves providing expert occupational therapy within a multi-disciplinary team to support individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI). The therapist will manage a caseload of clients with complex mental and physical health needs, utilizing advanced skills in neurological rehabilitation to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate tailored interventions. Responsibilities include liaising with internal and external professionals, overseeing rehabilitation support staff, conducting risk assessments, and maintaining accurate documentation in line with Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) guidelines.

The position demands strong interpersonal skills to engage clients and their families sensitively, especially when they may resist the rehabilitation process. Additionally, the therapist will coordinate treatment programs, contribute to team discussions, and facilitate discharge planning while promoting service user-centered goals. This autonomous role requires a high level of professional accountability and the ability to adapt to evolving client needs and circumstances within the therapeutic environment.
