East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Consultant Anaesthetist with a special interest in Day Surgery to join their team in St Leonards on Sea. The role primarily involves leading a multidisciplinary team at the new Elective Surgical Hub, ensuring the delivery of safe and efficient day case surgery to the local population. Candidates are required to have a GMC licence to practice, be on the specialist register or have a CCT to be obtained within six months of the interview date. The position includes opportunities to provide anaesthesia across various surgical specialties and involves a job plan of 10.75 programmed activities, which encompasses clinical and supporting professional activities.

The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively within a team, contribute to clinical governance, and have experience in teaching and engaging in quality improvement initiatives specific to their subspecialty. The proposed timetable features six direct clinical care (DCC) sessions, including anaesthetic provision at the Sussex Surgical Centre, along with a structure that allows for review and adjustment of duties after a few months in the position. On-call responsibilities are also a part of the role, with support provided to ensure adequate rest.
