The Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist specializing in Intellectual Disability to join the North Norfolk Community Learning Disability Team based in Little Plumstead, Norwich. The successful candidate will take on clinical assessments for complex mental disorders and challenging behaviors, provide management advice, and support rehabilitation efforts for patients within both outpatient and inpatient settings. The role includes acting as Responsible Clinician for patients under conditional discharge, participating in multi-disciplinary case work, and ensuring best practices in risk management. This position will involve supervising junior medical staff, contributing to service planning, and participating in the consultant on-call rota, with a current frequency of 1 in 6.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining professional standards through accurate documentation, attending academic programs, and participating in job plan reviews to align with service changes. The consultant will work collaboratively within a well-established medical team and help manage the care of a patient population of approximately 105,000 in North Norfolk. The role emphasises the importance of integrated care and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate treatment while minimizing hospital stays.
