The Occupational Therapist will also liaise with community organisations to build support networks for service users, participate in quality improvement projects to enhance overall service delivery, and foster partnerships with third-sector partners to facilitate access to community activities. Emphasizing engagement and motivation as crucial components of recovery, this position aims to help individuals achieve their recovery goals while navigating barriers to community resources.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and forward thinking Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Steps to Recovery Service based at Hertford House, situated on the Birmingham/ Solihull border.
Steps to Recovery services adopt a shared team approach, working together to support and engage service users with psychosis, many with a history of multiple admissions and with complex needs, low levels of engagement and often behaviours that challenge teams.
As a team member you will be delivering strategies to support and enable individuals to participate in recovery-based activities, engage in treatments, and develop skills to support returning successfully to their own homes or support with sourcing appropriate accommodations to meet their needs in the community.
Hertford House is a male only unit of ten beds and two independent assessment flats. Service users have severe and enduring mental illness but are all engaged actively in rehabilitation plans that focus on them 'living their best life' with or without symptoms and with a view toward independent living. The unit recognises the importance of engagement and motivation in recovery and OT plays an important role in care planning.

Developing personalised programmes of care for service users alongside other team members, which include psychology, medical, pharmacy, nursing and support staff. OT staff are responsible for focusing on developing structured goal orientated interventions to address issues all areas of functioning and to increase independent living.

Carrying out specific OT assessments to support care planning and any discharge needs. This may include specialised assessments to support funding packages or specialised interventionLiaison with OT staff in the Intensive Community Rehabilitation team and other community based teams to ensure that any needs identified within the rehab teams are reviewed and service users are given opportunities to meet their specific and ongoing goals for OT involvement.
