The Training Programme Director (TPD) for Neurosurgery will collaborate with the Postgraduate Dean to lead and enhance the delivery of training programs within the specialty, ensuring compliance with GMC and Royal College of Surgeons standards. Key responsibilities include recruiting and placing trainees, assessing their progress, organizing educational programs, and providing career guidance. The TPD is also tasked with promoting a high-quality learning environment, ensuring equitable access to education, and supporting trainees facing difficulties. Additionally, they will manage specialty-specific matters, oversee the regional training program, engage in workforce development, and contribute to strategic planning.

The role emphasises the importance of quality education, teamwork, and compliance with NHSE regulations. The TPD will present reports to the Specialty Training Committee, support educational faculty development, and advise on workforce commissioning and financial planning. Applicants must secure approval from their current employer if applying through a secondment within the NHS.
