The Corner Surgery in Southport is seeking a part-time salaried General Practitioner to work one day a week, ideally on Tuesday, with a salary of £25,000 for 9.75 hours of work, which represents 0.26 full-time equivalent. The working hours are from 08:15 to 18:20, including a 20-minute break and 60 minutes for continuous professional development (CPD). The position is a permanent role to replace a partner who is reducing their hours, with an anticipated start date of April 2025.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supervising the practice's clinical team on their working day, including training medical professionals. They will handle a typical workload of up to twenty-five 15-minute patient appointments, with the flexibility for face-to-face or telephone consultations. The surgery has a support system in place, such as clinical pharmacists for repeat prescriptions and a local Acute Visiting Service for home visits, which minimizes after-hours calls and online consultations. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply with a CV and cover letter, and further inquiries can be directed to Dr. David Smith.

This is a permanent position to replace a day worked by one of our partners, who is reducing their working sessions. We would like the successful candidate to be able to start in April 2025; at present, there is no closing date because we are prepared to wait for the right candidate. They must have the required experience to lead and supervise our practice clinical team on the day that they are working, including our trainees. Our typical clinical day is twenty-five, 15-minute appointments, with patients being given an informed choice of face-to-face or telephone consultation. However, when supervising our trainees we reduce that by a third and when working as the sole GP we reduce the afternoon appointments too. We receive very few online consultation requests, we do not provide fire-fighting on call sessions and most home visits are provided by the local Acute Visiting Service. On most days, repeat prescriptions are processed by our clinical pharmacists and our other clinical admin is filtered by the PCN's clinical admin hub.
