The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role at St David's Hospice Care in Newport involves providing high-quality palliative care to patients with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. The CNS will work collaboratively with GPs, hospitals, and district nurses across four boroughs (Newport, Monmouthshire, Caerphilly, and Torfaen) to assess patient and family needs, offering support, guidance, and advice, particularly in areas such as symptom control and psychological care.

Key responsibilities include:

- Assessing and addressing patient care needs in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Offering bereavement support and educational resources to patients and staff.
- Participating in research, clinical audits, and the development of palliative care protocols.
- Supporting the continuous professional development of the nursing staff.

The position is based on a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week), offers a competitive salary in line with NHS pay scales, and includes benefits like the NHS pension scheme, generous annual leave, and free parking.

Candidates should be prepared to work flexibly across the four boroughs and may occasionally participate in out-of-hours support. The role requires adherence to policies and procedures set by the NMC and St David’s Hospice Care.
