In addition to direct care responsibilities, the role encompasses collaboration with other agencies, adherence to child protection protocols, and the use of evidence-based psychotherapeutic principles. The practitioner will also oversee their own caseload while ensuring compliance with Trust policies, managing medications, fostering therapeutic relationships, and participating in quality audits and service user standards setting. This position seeks a motivated professional committed to providing person-centered care while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for service users.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a well motivated Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join the Knowsley CYPMHS team. We have one 12 month fixed term contract available which covers 0.8 wte (4 days per week).
You will have high standards of care and provide assessment, treatment and care co-ordination of children and young people referred into the service.
You will be expected to work as a member of the MDT and also be able to work well independently to provide person centred, evidence based care at all time.
- To accept referrals of children and their families.
- To assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions that are agreed with the child and caregiver in accordance with best practice. Ensure comprehensive risk assessment of children, young people and families and that risk management plans are in place and documented.
- To review plans on a regular basis and discuss in clinical supervision any issues that needs addressing.
- To liaise with other agencies in terms of information gathering and sharing.
- To inform local child protection co-ordinator and senior clinicians of any concerns regarding protection issues.
- Use audit/outcome measures to measure change/quality in accordance with CYPMHS procedures.
- To organise own caseload and work schedules in agreement with Senior Nurse/Clinician.
- To see families/children in the setting most appropriate for effective and efficient care.
- Undertake clinical procedures, including the measurement of physical characteristics relevant to their treatment plan e.g. blood pressure, weight etc.
- Monitor and record/report effects and side effects of any other prescribed psychotropic medication.
- Engage and support service users and carers utilising evidence based psychotherapeutic principles.
- Prescribe and deliver evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
