Competitive Salary - Very Senior Manager (VSM)
The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the second largest provider of specialist care in the UK, supporting people with a range of rare and complex medical, surgical and neurological conditions, cancers and genetic orders. We have over 2 million patient contacts each year in our main hospitals, making us one of the biggest providers of specialist care in the UK, and we serve people from across the whole of the North-East, North Cumbria and beyond. We are continuing our journey for system's plans for greater collaboration and development to enhance and improve clinical pathways resulting in better patient experience and outcomes.
We form a key part of one of Europe's leading centres for research and innovation in partnership with Newcastle University and the University of Northumbria at Newcastle, and through our work with the National Institute of Health Research. We are a core member of Health Innovation Northeast and North Cumbria (HI NENC), formerly known as the NENC Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) and Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA), and we continue to attract major awards and commercial opportunities to the Northeast.
For further information about the job please review the recruitment pack under 'supporting documents' or 'documents to download'.
We acknowledge that we are living in very challenging times and our Trust has much work to do to improve our performance and improve services. We have made a significant start by responding to the findings of the CQC inspection. However, we recognise there is still more to do, and as a result we are creating a new role of Deputy Chief Executive, to support the Board, CEO and wider executive team to meet these challenges and to re-establishing the Trust as one of the highest performing in the country. This will include working in partnership and collaboration with the newly formed Alliance.
As well as supporting and deputising for the CEO in delivery of all services, the postholder will be responsible for delivery of standards, services and targets delivered by the Clinical Boards of the Trust. This includes effective leadership and management of Clinical Board operational directors and of the performance director within the executive team. It is therefore essential that the successful candidate has experience of working at CEO/Deputy level, with a focus on delivery of NHS standards and targets and service improvement.
The postholder will champion a professional and open culture which empowers staff to consistently deliver quality care with compassion, whilst taking a leading role in tackling our challenges.
Candidates who are shortlisted for interview will be contacted by e-mail.
You should check your SPAM folders as well as your inbox.
This post is subject to the rehabilitation of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Services (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Due to the seniority of post, appropriate checks relevant to the Fit and Proper Persons Requirement will also be undertaken.
