                                                    Therapy Support Worker with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust in Leicester

                                                     The Medicine Therapy service in the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) have an exciting opportunity to work as a Therapy Support worker currently based at University Hospitals of Leicester at Ashton (UAA) in Hinckley.   The vacancies we have are working within the Therapy team who are currently based at UAA in Hinckley.   The post-holders will work alongside both the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists providing therapy interventions on the busy Reablement/Discharge to Assess Unit, supporting discharge from UHL and reducing deconditioning. You will be working with patients that have a variety of medical conditions.     The successful candidate needs to be able to work well alone and also as part of Team. They need to have good communication skills both verbally and non-verbally and have an understanding of Occupational Therapists and / or Physiotherapists roles. They need to be comfortable performing personal care tasks for patients.   The successful candidate will participate in local training to achieve all pertinent Support competencies within the first 6 months of employment into this role. We would expect the applicants to demonstrate understanding of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy interventions.   About us  The candidate will be required to     Develop, manage and maintain positive, appropriate relationships with service users, families and carers providing person-centred care.   Understand the different influences that impact on health outcomes for service users and their families including health inequalities.   Understand the aims and principles of health promotion, protection and improvement and seeks support from a registered practitioner when a service user signals a desire to change their health behaviour.   Understand and demonstrate the principles of team and partnership working and is able to define own duties and role.   Understand the role boundaries and importance of supervision and carrying out appropriate delegated tasks, ensuring timely completion.   Provide feedback on service user progress and condition, recognise the impact of support and interventions, and suggest ideas for improvement when developing, reviewing and evaluating care plans based on objective evidence and experience.   Use knowledge and understanding of common physical, mental and behavioural health conditions to recognise deterioration in service users. Respond by promptly escalating concerns to a Registered Health Care Professional.   The successful candidate will be expected to work Monday to Friday at UAA, with an expectation that you will work as part of the weekend and Bank Holiday roster, taking compensatory time off during the week.
