Livewell Southwest is seeking a Special Care Dental Nurse for a fixed-term maternity cover role, offering 30 hours per week within the Plymouth Community Dental Services team. Ideal candidates will be registered dental nurses with relevant qualifications, including a post-certification in Dental Sedation, and experience in assisting during surgeries involving conscious sedation. The role entails providing high-quality patient care to individuals with special needs, including clinical procedures, chairside assistance, and post-operative patient management. A key component of the job involves monitoring sedated patients, ensuring a safe clinical environment by adhering to infection control protocols, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams during treatments such as general anaesthesia.

The position requires a strong understanding of complex medical and health issues, a compassionate approach to patient care, and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Candidates must possess the GDC registration and meet specific experience criteria, including a minimum of two years in the field. Responsibilities also include maintaining dental equipment, assisting in emergency situations, and delivering pre/post-operative guidance to patients and their caregivers. All staff are expected to be flexible, working across a 7-day service, and may be required to engage in administrative tasks with minimal supervision.
