The Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in Learning Disability to manage a small community caseload and oversee the Byron Ward inpatient unit located at Hollins Park Hospital. The role includes responsibilities as the Responsible Clinician (RC) for the eight-bed inpatient unit as well as maintaining a caseload of 75-80 patients within designated areas of Liverpool. The consultant will play a crucial role in service development, lead multidiscipline team meetings, conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, and ensure effective communication with various stakeholders, including families and other health services.

The successful candidate will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for supervising junior doctors, managing psychiatric emergencies, conducting patient reviews, and performing risk assessments. The position requires strong leadership skills to help transition to a new inpatient facility while delivering high-quality patient care, particularly in areas of varying socioeconomic conditions within Liverpool.
