The Mind & Body are inseparable and mental and physical health conditions are often connected. When mental and physical health problems are combined, people are less able to manage their conditions properly and their health conditions become worse.
Across King's Health Partners we are working to overcome these barriers by aspiring to treat the whole person because we know that addressing mental ill-health improves physical health outcomes and vice versa.
The post holder will provide programme leadership to KHP's Mind & Body programme delivering "whole person care" through mental and physical health services collaboration. The Programme Director will play a critical role in ensuring this approach is embedded within the KHP 2Strategy delivery across all areas of work.
Key responsibilities include:
Strategy Development and Leadership/Management:
Lead on Mind & Body strategy in collaboration with Clinical and Academic Directors for Mind & Body and KHP senior leadership team
Working to the Director of Strategy for KHP, lead on the implementation of the integrating mental and physical health priorities in the KHP 2Strategy (to be launched in spring 2025)
Lead and engage with Clinical Academic Groups (CAGs), Clinical Academic Partnerships and Programmes (CAPs), local partners, local care networks and community teams on the development of the Mind & Body agenda;
To model a collaborative and influencing style of working, negotiating with others to achieve the best outcomes
Lead engagement with internal and external partners to encourage contribution and sustain commitment to the strategic Mind & Body agenda, including key initiatives, strategic partnerships, and other decision making and direction setting activities;
Supporting and facilitating CAG and CAP management teams through the core Mind & Body programme, advising, negotiating and enabling their drive and focus to achieve KHP mind & body objectives;
Lead on senior conversations about service delivery to recommend new models of care or delivery or new ways of working, including new roles, in order to progress the integration of mental and physical healthcare.
Programme Management and Cross-team Collaboration
Ensure that KHP supports the provision of high quality integrated healthcare across mental- physical healthcare settings and in line with both psychiatric and medical liaison models, embedding it across partner organisations, testing learning and improving services for patients
Support the implementation and embedding of the operatinf model for the KHP 2Strategy, including supporting the development of collaborative delivery models that draw on the expertise and experience across KHP partnership teams
Provide programme leadership, oversight and management to ensure robust programme planning, budgeting, and risk monitoring to achieve successful delivery
Facilitate and drive the development of appropriate systems and mental-physical pathways to support the Mind & Body agenda
Communication, Engagement and Relationship Management
Actively lead and promote KHP Mind & Body priorities and objectives across the Partner organisations and gain commitment and engagement of others in the KHP Mind & Body vision
Lead strategic Mind & Body engagement with external partners and stakeholders, which may include imparting contentious information
To act as a champion for patients and the local population and their interests and involve the public and patients in the development of the Mind & Body programme, including giving them a patient voice, setting up mechanisms for co-production and involvement within programme governance
Strongly contribute to the delivery of communication and reporting material to the KHP Mind & Body programme committees, as well as to the overarching KHP operational, executive and CAG/CAP leadership groups. Work closely with the KHP Communications team to deliver the wider communication strategy for the programme
To act as an ambassador for KHP and its aspirations and objectives externally, obtaining influence over policy direction and high level decision making in the context of a fast paced and ever changing complex environment
To build on and further develop collaborative relationships with key partners in the larger health economy to ensure service designs are meeting the needs of the groups they are designed to serve
To ensure that all learning is spread and shared locally across partnerships and programmes, as well as nationally and internationally.
Financial Management
Drive the programme to secure benefits identified in the benefits plan. This will include identifying and tracking financial benefits, value for money, efficiency and early identification and management of unintended benefits and dis-benefits
To promote organisational efficiency, demonstrate cost effectiveness and embed a culture of value for money and return on investment through the programme; use of Lean methodology as appropriate
Lead on all procurement processes for the programme, including project management and consultancy support, supplies, ensuring choice of best suppliers and value for money ensuring adherence to procurement requirements
