Wrightington Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a part-time Switchboard Operator for a 25-hour role within their busy Switchboard Department. The position requires a flexible approach to cover shifts over a 24-hour period, ensuring continuous communication support for patients and staff. Key responsibilities include providing a comprehensive and confidential telephone service, handling incoming calls, monitoring alarm systems, and responding to emergencies as per established protocols. Previous experience in switchboard operations, ideally within an acute hospital setting, is desirable, along with excellent telephone skills and some IT knowledge.

Candidates must demonstrate flexibility in working hours and an ability to cover for team members at short notice. The role includes reception-type duties, such as managing inquiries from staff and contractors and maintaining key security records. Successful applicants will be expected to participate in an On Call Rota and will have the opportunity to visit the Switchboard team prior to applying.
