The role of a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust involves training and supporting in the analysis, technical validation, interpretation, and reporting of biological samples to ensure effective patient care and resource management. The position requires engagement across various laboratory sections and possibly at near-patient services, focusing on compliance with good laboratory practices and quality assurance standards. Candidates should possess a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science or an equivalent qualification, ideally with a completed IBMS generic portfolio and HCPC registration.

The laboratory team handles over half a million requests annually and is dedicated to maintaining high accreditation standards, including ISO 15189 and IBMS accreditation. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of safely managing biological samples and hazardous materials while contributing to the timely reporting of results.
